With shadows you are as much in control of them as you are not. And two things that were very clear combine to become something completely other.

But once our eyes have construed pattern, is there really any going back?

Does it really matter, the name of their owners?

The Anatomy of A Gathering

Central Saint Martins, London UK.

About
This series consists of large-scale figurative paintings based on the Ukrainian folk ritual of Mylanka.  An ancient paganpractice, the resilient winter carnival survives against all odds. Relying on costumes, trickery, and nomadic dancing, the rite ensures the renewal of spring. The masked, non-human, nomadic trickster becomes a vehicle to explore a multiplicity of identities - a vulnerable and generative investigator of a developing culture. Bodies assume and dispel archetypes, blurring lines between protection and vulnerability, community and the self. This series of works brings about a sense of hope and release, re-envisioned through a cathartic, female-driven narrative.

The Anatomy of a Gathering, 2026, acrylic and oil on velvet, 120 x 180 cm each.
