RISE FALL REEL Lecture
This performance lecture is an introductory component of an overarching proto-thesis series that attempts to build a bodily lexicon around the dynamic and poetic form of the mound. Comprised of three chapters, RISE, FALL, and REEL, this venture explores three different types of body-earth relationships, and their poetic and environmental tangents. The lecture is a speculative, narrative project meant to deliver my personal experience (as a catalyser) and set in motion different powerful ideas around an object.
The video and lecture are both highly new for me as mediums of expression. Requiring a lot of experimentation, I began to draw links in between the auditory and the visual in the form of action and tone. And while most things you see came out of improvisation and play, I was determined to connect between setting a context for my inquiry, and extending my words and thoughts into a bodily action of creating a physical outgrowth of form, signalling a new dive into a subject that has consistently captivated me.
